I saw this article a minute ago and thought it was ridiculously funny, but also quite thought provoking. It has been making its way around the web and yesterday, I brought it up to my family and they went HAM AND CHEESE debating about it. So, I wanted to get you alls opinions.
For those who are unfamiliar, a Chinese man, Jian Feng sued his wife after she gave birth to what he called an "ugly" baby girl, claiming that his wife must have cheated on him. He got a paternity test and found out that the children were in fact his, and that his kids actually favored his wife prior to her having $62,000 worth of surgery that he knew nothing about.
Jian Feng won the lawsuit based on his claim that his wife married him under false pretenses because she never told him about her face changing plastic surgery. The judge found his claims valid and awarded Feng $75,000 for damages.
Was Feng's wife wrong for not sharing her before and after pictures with her husband prior to marriage?
Would you get a paternity test if you had a beautiful spouse but the kids came out "ugly"?
Whose side would you be on if you were the judge? Who should #HaveASeat on this Sunday?
Myke Eazy (Michael Sims) has been writing and singing music since the age of nine. His whole family were vocalists and enjoyed music, so a house full of singing didn’t seem that special to him. So it was not until he reached college where he realized just how much promise his own musical talent held for him. He recently penned his first song for his new album entitled "Love" and posted the track on Twitter and Facebook. He soon had over 15k twitter followers and a new, fast-growing fan base. Michael’s music has a rich blend of beats, harmony and soul that takes his R&B sound to a new level. His inspiration comes from music icons Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Tank, Kanye West and Frank Ocean. “My art is unique, fresh, and new. It isn't trying to be like anything else out there right now so comparison is futile. My sound is all my own and though my brand is still in its formation, it is growing thanks to people who appreciate the music,” said Eazy. “I am very excited to bring to you a fresh sound and a new brand! The first project is entitled "I Can Do Anything" and is available on iTunes as well as many other online music stores! I am an advocate of encouraging others that they too can do anything that they set their minds too!” Eazy added.
In this edition of Culture Shock we would like to give the Humble Award to a special Artist Willie Porter Jr. The Humble Award is given to people in our community that are making an impact on our society. Many we may know, but some are under the radar. I would like to take the time out to thank Willie Porter Jr. for his presence in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia community where I met him, and for the positive effect that he has on the people that come in contact with him. I will give you all some background on Willie Porter Jr.
Full Name: Willie Porter Jr.
D.O.B: June, 1990
Born in: Flint, Michigan
Residence Now: Richmond, VA
I asked Mr. Porter when did he recognize his creative gift?
Willie Porter:"I didn't recognize my
creative gift. People I love & respect recognized it for me and I felt I
owed it to them and myself to take it seriously. My high school art teacher
gave me that push that I needed. My senior year of high school, I had no
intention of going to college until about April. When my art teacher got on me
to create a portfolio and submit it to vcu. She told me that if I applied that
she'd write my letter of recommendation and guide me through the process.
Needless to say, I got accepted into their school of arts and never looked
back. Although I didn't finish my schooling there, that experience with my
teacher was the spark I needed to appreciate my gift."
I asked Mr. Porter how will he use his gift to inspire the WORLD?
Willie Porter:"I can't speak of all
the things God will allow me to do to inspire the world in days to come, but I
can tell you about a plan I have that I feel will greatly impact a city. I'm
moving to Richmond, Va tomorrow morning. I quit my job two weeks ago. I plan to
paint and tattoo to cover my rent. While I have no doubts that I'm going to get
it done, I thought over and over about how I could connect with Richmond. Sure
I know people who I attended VCU (Virginia Common Wealth University) with, but how can I immediately be a presence
in the art scene. While I've made a name for myself in Fredericksburg, Va that
buzz won't keep me afloat in Richmond, Va.
One day as I was riding through
Richmond with my girl I kept thinking and thinking. Looking around at all the
students, business men/women, and countless homeless ppl. Where do I start as
far as making my mark. Then it hit me and I couldn't stop smiling. I have to
start from the bottom. Once I unpack my things tomorrow, I'm putting the
cardboard boxes to use. I'm painting as many pieces of cardboard that I can,
with whatever comes to mind. Whether it be portraits, animals, whatever. Then
I'm gonna walk the city and hand them to bums. Not only is it free promotion
for me, but it'll bring more attention and potentially more money to them. Now
what they do with it has nothing to do with me. I'm gonna give the choice of
either selling my paintings and let them keep the money, or keeping the
paintings. Hopefully them holding on to something that is typically found in a
home will inspire them to end up in a home and not on the street. If they do
sell what I give them, then I'll bring them more. Everyone sees bums. Everyday.
I know I'd stop and notice a bum holding art. I have many more ideas when it
comes to the homeless, but that's all I'll share for now."
Mr. Porter has demonstrated faith, perseverance, and trust way possible. I commend this brother for his achievements and I pray for his future success. Once again to a humble gentleman we present WILLIE PORTER JR. with the HUMBLE AWARD. Check out a couple of pieces of Willie Porter Jr's artwork below. Leave comments and responses. His contact information for painting inquires is: WillEPorter810@aol.com
First and foremost we want to apologize for the delay of the blog last week. It was a tough week for us. We have had very busy schedule's in our personal lives, but we are back and booming. NOW BACK TO REGULAR SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING. We are going to slow this thing down today, and even though it may not be NEW we want to introduce you to John Legend's recent single "ALL OF ME." Let us know is this an Engagement song or a Wedding Song (walking down the aisle song)
In light of several cases of recent child neglect, abuse and just downright bad parenting, I wanted to pose the question, "Should there be preliminary screenings or restrictions placed on people who wish to become parents, especially those with prior convictions or diagnosed psychological illnesses?"
Here we see Jessica Howell (to the left), a 25 year old mother, who was dating (Jordan Prince) a known registered sex offender, whom she allegedly gave consent to rape and kill her 4 month old baby and on December 3rd of last year, he did just that. Recently, Jordan (boyfriend of mother) was indicted on counts of first degree murder and Jessica (the mother) on counts of second degree murder.
My heart hurts for what that 4 month old, voiceless child must have went through and what so many other young children like her go through everyday. Children who cannot speak for themselves and cannot fight back. Children who are expected to be protected by their parents, but instead are placed in harms way. Having children should be a gift from God, not to be taken lightly, but it seems more and more often, we see cases of horrific evil senseless adults having children and misusing their power as parents. How could anyone as demonic and sick as this woman be allowed to parent a child, let alone walk the streets, period? Unfortunately, this is not as uncommon as one may think. Every day, more than four children die at the hands of child abusers, 80% under the age of four. So I ask again, "Should there be preliminary screenings or restrictions placed on people who wish to become parents, especially people with prior convictions or diagnosed psychological issues?" What do you think?
Also, I dont want to end this post without saying that even if you could never imagine allowing someone to do this to your child, please take a second to understand that child abuse comes in many forms, some of which have become common among young parents and they are as follows:
1. Dressing your child in inappropriate attire
2. Allowing children to watch overtly sexual or overly violent shows/movies
3. Telling your children to dance inappropriately for their age
4. Allowing children in the room as you and your partner have sexual intercourse
5. Leaving your child with unfit sitters and/or people you do not know well
6. Allowing your children to drink alcoholic beverages, smoke or do drugs
These are just to name a few. It is never too late to learn how to become an effective and knowledgeable parent. Please use the utmost discernment when deciding to bring others around your children and in deciding what is right and wrong for a child's normal/natural development. What you may deem okay, may be child neglect or abuse. There are resources available to you (i.e.Skillful Parenting, Parent Education Program, etc.) If you suspect ANY form of child abuse is going on, please call 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453)IT IS YOUR BUSINESS, IT IS YOUR DUTY!
I had a special request this past week they wanted to know
what is the line between interested and thirsty. When should we give him/her a glass of water?
Well let’s dig into the issue a little more. From
experience I have seen many women shut down a man and call him thirsty when the
guy just showed interest. I have also been that guy that will say “hello beautiful”
or “I saw you and I just had to talk to you?” no pick up lines just straight
honesty.I have also have an experience
where I just wanted to tell a female that she was nice looking and I received
the boo boo face. Now, after receiving
the boo boo face I was salty but I just let it go.I knew she wouldn't get a good man with that kind of attitude and I kept it moving.I just
think this thin line between interests and thirsty is not that thin.It is relatively thick. If a guy comes up to you attractive or not
and tells you that you are gorgeous and he wants to know your name unless you have
a man you could be very courteous and say “thank you” and give your name.If you are not interested tell him politely
and keep it moving. Now MEN please pleaseeeeeee
pleaseeeeee do not be ignorant and hit the “Well you weren’t that cute anyway”
at that point you sound desperate.Women
if you have a man you can still say “thank you, however I’m taken but I
appreciate the gesture.” For the men out there that think that every woman
wants them it’s not true!!!! Lol.When a
woman says hello that’s not code for “I’m DTF” (down to F**K).Sometimes hello means hello and when she says
you look nice that does not mean “OOOO I WANT YOU NOW”.Men just know that you should carry yourself
appropriately when approaching and being approached by a woman. Also, women stop acting like a guy can’t say
hello. He’s not thirsty, sometimes he is
just interested.
Let’s take a moment on being thirsty. Thirsty is similar to the word pressed. If all you do all day is approach every woman
you see you just may be thirsty. If as a woman all
you do is post pictures on IG with your cheeks out or in lingerie you thirsty
and no GOOD MAN wants you or that. ß Just because he will
FU*% you does not mean that he wants you as a person. Thirsty is going for all married men. Thirsty is calling a female and texting her
in the same minute. If she doesn’t answer your call, why text her right after? You all are not
DATING! Women if you have a child(ren) and you chasing a man and trying to find out what the next man is doing
and, you are forgetting your child(ren) at daycare then you are thirsty and need to
check your priorities. Now Creeps are just
that Creeps. We all know what makes a guy a creep and what makes a woman a creep. It is not Halloween and no one wants to be
with a creep besides maybe another creep.

The world we live in has become a "REAL NIGGA" society. Most African American males tend to want to live up to this status of being a "REAL NIGGA." The Urban Dictionary has defined real nigga to mean someone who always are 'themselves',not someone who goes on killing sprees and doesn't care about anything. But, being a real nigga. Being yourself means showing everything about yourself but your weaknesses, knowing them at the same time. It's all about being real and true to yourself. The opposite of real is fake. Lets take a closer look at this definition. We all know that majority of teens do not know who they are at 13 - 17, so how does one stay true to when you hardly know who you are? Well I have an idea, If you do not have it in you to sell drugs don't do it because you feel its the only way of making money. (NO MAN or WOMAN should feel that drugs are the only way out). Being real is to live in reality and to know that the world needs African American males to be MEN not Niggas.
This article is not meant to put people at ease and not step on toes because that is exactly what I want to do. However, it is to let our young aspiring men know that they can do what ever it is they want to do. They can be whoever they want to be as long as that title is being you and making your society a better place to live in for your future kids and fellow peers. We can sit here and talk about black on black crime and how more prisons are being built but FIRST we must address that our households are broken. We have women trying to raise men and men trying to raise there D*&^'s more than them trying to raise there child(ren). National Fatherhood Initiative stated:
"Children in father-absent homes are almost four times more likely to be poor. In 2011, 12 percent of children in married-couple families were living in poverty, compared to 44 percent of children in mother-only families "
Education of our kids do not start in the school but it starts at home. I am not saying that all men should stay with the woman they had a kid with because everyone that has children together is not always meant to be together. I am saying that as parents of a child you all should be able to come to a co-parent agreement with the mother or father of the child and do what is necessary for success of the child. How is it as a culture when we had less we did more and now that we have more we do less? Do you have goals for your kids? Do you care how the teacher is treating them while they are in class? Do you care about the way they see themselves in the mirror? if you answered NO to any of those questions then you should re-evaluate your title as a parent because if you don't care hardly anybody else will or can. As men we have been absent for WAY to long please lets take back our community and uplift our Young African American Brothers. I commend the brothers that are fighting for the there son and daughters to have the best that they can give. I DO NOT commend the women that take out there frustration with the man out on there kids. If you have a brother that is doing what he has to do as a parent let him do what he has to do but don't use the LAW to work in your favor on hurting his relationship with his child because he may have hurt your relationship with him. I need women we to help and encouragement to let our young brothers know that they can be a man not to put them down and look at them all like hopeless black men. It starts with us as a community to get rid of the negative connotations with our Race and Culture.
I leave you with these quotes:
"Be the CHANGE you wish to see in the world." - Mahatma Gandhi
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy" - Martin Luther King Jr.
I am in high school and my friend of 3 years and boyfriend
of 1 year decided to break up with me the day after our anniversary. After breaking up with me he decided to tell
everyone the reason was because he just didn’t have feelings for me anymore,
which I thought was odd considering he told me something a bit different over
the phone. A week later, I found out he
went on a date with his ex-gf and I also found out he has a class with her this
year and didn’t even tell me. My real
question stems from the fact that his friend asked me to hang out with him (a
date originally) and come to find out unlike my ex we have A LOT in common
(purity rings, our beliefs in God, family background, etc.). Is it against some sort of gender or moral
code to date your exes friend (even if we are more compatible and your ex has
dumped you)? Please help!
Every Monday we release one or two videos to let you decide whether you DIG IT or you would TRASH IT....
Today we will take a look at a record by Sevyn Streeter ft Chris Brown "It won't stop". After listening to this record I must say for myself I would DIG IT. I have never heard of Sevyn Streeter but her voice is soulful and of course Chris Breezy gave the throwback R&B feel which is appreciated. Check it out and let us know if you DIG IT OR if you will TRASH IT??????
We talk about women and Pride all the time. So can women swallow their pride when it comes to dating? After reading an interesting article about women and pride, I wanted to share my thoughts so I could hear your thoughts on it. The article talks about women having good dating pride and bad dating pride. However, we know that a woman’s pride is what helps create the quality of a woman. You always hear “I’m CLASSYYYYY” well are you really? Are you sophisticated? Are you confident or are you just plain out cocky WITHOUT a reason?
Pride is “a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements.” This definition only begins to describe the downfall of the woman’s ego in my opinion of course. Taking a look at what guys may consider good pride is when a woman takes pride in what she wears, in her goals, and her man (when she has one). A man loves a woman with pride because it represents a type of confidence that he knows she will pass to him and his future children. Now this pride can lead to disaster if not controlled.
“I’m a BAD B*&#H” ß we have all seen and heard this before and it’s probably one of the dumbest sayings that men do not I repeat DO NOT RESPECT. Women just because you are very attractive does not mean that you are a soon to be wife. A man will take the 7 in the face but 10 in the attitude over the 10 in the face and 5 in the attitude any day as a wife. Now Bad Pride can easily get you left behind and being that lonely woman at 50 with 12 cats (no offense to my cat lovers). Examples of bad pride:
1.
You like a man but will not tell him.
You want to go on a date with a man but will not ask him on a date
A man approaches you and tells you his interest but you playing hard to get
A man makes less money as you but works his A$$ off and all you can say is “Girl he don’t make enough."
You a Bad B*$(H so if he doesn't have True Religion jeans he’s not worthy however you live with your mom with no car and working at McDonald's
As this article comes to an END all I have to say is PLEASE don’t let PRIDE take away your HAPPINESS.
Social Media as we know it has become the modern day PUBLIC NOTEBOOK. Social media reminds me of that black and white notebook that you and some of your close friends made to communicate in class and tell every situation about your life that was going on at the time. Only difference is that in this day and age its PUBLIC... we went from wall post on Facebook to pictures on Instagram this shows how social media is leaving less and less privacy. SOOOOO lets talk about social media & relationships.

All relationships NEED privacy. Well these days, privacy is almost non existent. Only privacy a relationship may get is through the standard privacy settings. Who's fault is it when it comes to the relationship ending over IG likes or FB comments? Relationships can be tricky if you have a crazy or insecure girl/boy friend. If you do have one of those then you should probably only add family members to your social network. Social media can be used to show off your love and your prize from GOD but don't post your fights and arguments on there. DO NOT post your drama and making tweet-grams stating how trifling your partner is then 2 hours later you talking about oh how I love him/her and they're the one. YOU SOUND RIDICULOUS.... YES I said it... Honestly you can't talk about how trifling someone is and then be with them and then get mad at the world for thinking you are stupid for being with someone because you put all your private business in a PUBLIC STREET.
L

S
T
So you and your partner are attractive people (so you believe) and your partner gets 75 IG likes without you in the picture but they get 15 IG likes with you all together in a picture, do you get mad or do you respect it? Well i'll answer that for you. You all are going to get outraged. For women you all mad because out of them 75 likes 65 of them are women and out of that 65, 45 of those women your man probably has done and the other 20 are a mixture of female friends and random women he done added. Do not let a comment be made and your man around 9 times out of 10 you going to ask "who she" knowing that you don't know her even if he told you. Fellas you all get pissed too. Especially if if out of those 75, 3 of those men are men that your lady has smashed.the dude don't even have to comment just seeing that dude like the pic you asking her "YO YOU BEEN LIKING HIS PICTURES" lol. NOW do you see how dumb all this sounds... Next thing you know ya'll broken up and shorty/ol' boy dating and putting up pics of the person that one person that liked the picture that you didn't even think about now you going back to week 65 to see if he liked week 65 picture when you and your ex-partner was together... EPIC FAIL.... #YouDontHearMeTho lol
Hey Fashionable Folks! In light of Fashion Week in DC and Paris coming to a fabulous end, I thought I would get you alls opinion on one of the latest men's fashion trends...the male dress or as I like to call it "the mess"!
Over the years, men have (in my opinion) been pushing the limits of transgender fashion since the 90's with the introduction of ear piercings, nose rings, tight jeans, jeggings, hair extensions and now dresses; all worn by males of the straight community, so it appears. I mean, what's next? Maybe Kanye will collaborate with Giuseppe Zanotti again to make a "Cruel Winter" men's high heel collection. All I can say is, FELLAS YOU BETTA LEARN TO WEERK! *3 snaps boo*
Ladies, are you okay with your man wearing a hotter dress than you?
Fellas, are you ready to start asking your boys questions like, "does this dress make my butt look big"?

What up Goons! Walked into Walmart yesterday & realized it's about that time for everyone to start preparing for Halloween. Whether you have kids or you are a big kid at heart, Halloween is the best holiday to go all out, dress up, carve pumpkins, decorate the house, watch scary movies, all while pigging out on your favorite candy (hints why I like to call it the Dentists Holiday)! Anywho, in honor of this fun filled holiday coming up, I decided to throw a few throwbacks your way, that may help you get in the spirit & bring out the child in all of us. Remember these?Below let us know your favorite childhood memories regarding these Halloween favorites! #ThrowBackThursday
For Instance, did yall use to go in the bathroom & say Candyman 3xs and look in the mirror then run out the bathroom screaming or nah? #KaySayWhaaat
She
Said: Can yall remember back to when rap was about being the
freshest MC, having the dopest rhymes or even the flyest ladies (no, not
b*tches, but ladies)? Back when Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock rapped lyrics like:
I wanna rock right now
I'm Rob Base and I came to get down
I'm not internationally known
But I'm known to rock the microphone
Because I get stupid, I mean outrageous
Stay away from me if you're contagious
'Cause I'm the winner, no, I'm not the loser
To be an M.C. is what I choose-a
Ladies love me, girls adore me
I mean even the ones who never saw me
Like the way that I rhyme at a show
The reason why, man, I don't know
Back when you didn't just rap anything to get rich, you rapped because
you were hungry to be heard.
Unfortunately, old school Hip Hop is rolling over in its grave with
artists like Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, Juicy J and the likes, taking over with
their provocative, disrespectful, male chauvinist lyrics. We live in an era where sex sales &
everyone is buying in. A generation of young men who feel they can tweet things
like this and think nothing of it:
A generation
of young men who couldn't tell you the first thing about real love, but can
tell everything you need to know about sex, drugs & money. Have we lost our way? Have we forgotten the
struggle those who paved the way before us endured so that we could speak
freely or have we played into the pygmalion effect and truly became as ignorant
as they once thought us to be? #KaySayWhaaat
What do you
think about the direction of Hip Hop music and its influence on young men &
women?
He Said: In talking about the ethics of Hip Hop and how
it has given the image of our culture some of the most degraded thoughts, I
would like to touch on the fact that I am not anti-music nor self expression.
I love different genre's including Hip Hop. However, I am more
accustomed to the conscious rapper that shines light on what goes on in the
hoods of America but also, does not make it seem like its the only and right
way of life. There are elements and topics in music that should be met,
but as we observe some of the lyrics of rappers like Chief Keef who rap lyrics
like:
You aint
gonna let me fuck and I feel you,
But you gone
suck my dick or I’ll kill you!
I may not be the most religious but I
do know CHRIST and I do know that as a father and a man that has came from
nothing to something I will not allow my son to listen and idolize the images
these rappers depict because I will work as hard as I can to let him see the
positive icons that encompass what it means to be a gentleMAN is and not a
hoodNIGGA..... #ButYouDontHearMeTho
What can we
do as parents to protect the next generation from the downward spiral music has
taken over the years?

Kay Say Whaaaat: Honestly, I've been over it since the fad started! Our
generation ceases to amaze me with the things we choose to invest our time and
energy in (twerking being only the tip of the iceberg). Ask a young adult about new book releases or global
current events and they don’t know, but I bet they can lead you to the latest
twerk video. Really? Yes, really! A group of academic internet analysts found
that in the month of August more people tweeted about twerking than they did
about the crisis in Syria or any other current event for that matter.
Yeah I get it, maybe Syrian issues aren’t
your thing and that’s cool but teaching your 2 year old to twerk is? Eh, I
guess to each his own. Who knows, maybe Juicy J will sponsor her education one day. *rachet shrug*
Nevertheless, I think what bothers me the most about the
twerking movement is not that it’s become a widespread fad (as we have seen
many come and go), but more so how it all came to light. Twerking has recently
been coined a Miley Cyrus thing, so where you hear the word “twerk” her name is
sure to follow, but did she create twerking? Hell, is she even twerking?
Contrary to our younger generation’s belief, whatever it is Miley calls herself
doing and the actual dance coined “twerking” are the farthest things from one
another. Her VMA’s performance was in my opinion little more than a sick erotic off beat joke, but little twerking really went on.
So what is twerking and where does it come from? Though there are debates on where the dance
originated (Africa, New Orleans, Miami, the list of possibilities goes on) it
was in the 1980's when the dance came about in African American communities and rapidly
became popular in party settings and in hip hop music videos. Thus meaning, your mom had more of a
likelihood of creating the dance and was probably better in her day than you
may think you are now. However, that’s a topic I’ll leave your family to discuss
at the next reunion. So anywho, for
a little more than 30 years women of color have been so called ‘twerk dancing’ but
it seems when Disney Channel child star, Hannah Montana (aka Miley Rae Cyrus) decides
to rebel against her innocent childhood image by shaking her sweet niblets (Hannah
Montana phrase) or what I call having a seizure on stage, all of sudden the
dance style gets attention and justification from media outlets, researchers
and even the Oxford Dictionary.
Should twerking have been put in the Oxford Dictionary or Urban Dictionary? Could race play a role in the recent popularity of twerking? Is Miley even twerking? Twerking for scholarships? Let us know what you think below. If you are for the twerk movement add hashtag #PopIt to the end of your post & if you are against the so called twerk movement hashtag #StopIt.
